Through innovative curriculum design and inclusive teaching practices, my courses create academic environments that support students intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

As an educational neuroscientist, I recognize that university students are in a crucial stage of neurodevelopment, where heightened neuroplasticity presents an opportunity for transformative learning. Leveraging this potential, I engage students in active, meaningful, and self-directed learning, fostering both scientific and personal growth. Grounded in neuroscience-based pedagogy, my teaching aligns with how the brain learns best—enhancing engagement, critical thinking, and knowledge retention.

Human learning is inherently relational. I design courses that foster meaningful interactions between students and instructors, creating a collaborative and inclusive learning community. To ensure accessibility in large-scale courses, I integrate educational technology that provides flexible ways to engage, participate, and demonstrate learning. My student-centered approach recognizes diverse strengths, backgrounds, and needs, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

University Courses Developed and Taught

  • NSCI 140 – The Learning Brain (UBC, 2024–Present)
    Designed and taught a signature course for UBC’s Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience, integrating neuroscience principles with real-world applications to enhance learning, well-being, and academic success. The course empowers students to become active and conscious players in their neurodevelopmental trajectory.

  • Academic Seminar Design & Leadership for Students (UBC, 2023–2024)
    Designed and instructed the Student Directed Seminars (SDS) Coordinator Training at the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL). This program trains upper-year undergraduate students to propose, coordinate, and facilitate their own 3-credit seminar, equipping them with skills in curriculum design, peer-to-peer learning, and critical thinking.

  • PSYC 301 – Brain Dysfunction and Recovery (UBC, 2021–2022)
    Examined neurological and psychiatric disorders, recovery mechanisms, and rehabilitation strategies.

  • PSYC 304 – Brain and Behaviour (UBC, 2021–2022)
    A comprehensive Behavioural Neuroscience (Biopsychology) course covering neural mechanisms underlying behaviour, cognition, and emotion

  • PSYC 207 004 – Contemporary Topics in Biological and Cognitive Psychology: Educational Neuroscience (UBC, 2021W2)
    Developed and taught this course exploring how the human brain supports learning and development, bridging neuroscience with cognitive, emotional, and social domains of education.

  • EDPS 693.02 – Brain-Behavior Relationships (University of Calgary, 2021)
    Graduate-level course at the Werklund School of Education, exploring the human brain and its implications for education.

  • EPSE 511 941 – Special Topics in Human Development, Learning, and Culture: Educational Neuroscience (UBC, 2020)
    Developed and taught this graduate-level course examining how neuroscience informs educational practices.
